That's good news that you got it working.
Those 'bugs' actually belongs to IE8 while trying to run joomla's core javascript by the way.

i am having the same problem. Just a blank page upon the install. Any help would be appreciated.

You can try the following steps, which worked for me, when I got an empty page during install:
1. compare all files you have in directory "tmp/install_xxxxxxx" with the unziped MobileJoomla0.8.1_for_J15 and upload via FTP the missing files, in my case all files in "terawurfl".
3. then go back to Extension Manager and Install from Directory.

I had a similar problem. Would not install on six different servers running php 5.3 and 5.4 with memory_limit 64M. Would install on < 5.2.

I finally just uploaded the zip to the site directory and then used the third install option on the Joomla installer called "install from URL".

Worked like a charm! Hope that may be helpful to others.
